John 14:23 Jesus replied, "…My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
We are called into relationship with the whole of God, not just one bit. So we are to know we are saved through Jesus, know the love of the Father, and experience them both through the Holy Spirit. Jesus came so that we could know the Father – and the Holy Spirit helps us to know his love. When Jesus was on earth he called the Father “abba” – which means “Daddy”. The Bible teaches us that we can call him “abba” too.
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. (Romans 5:5)
The Holy Spirit wants to take you from the slavery of fear into the place of love and acceptance – to release the abba cry in your heart! Needing the approval of men is slavery – Having the abba cry is freedom! He loves to pour the Father’s love into our hearts. He speaks to our Spirits (each of us is made up of Body, Soul and Spirit) about the Father’s Love for us. (Rom 8:15-16 …and by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children)
John 14:23 Jesus replied, "…My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Let the Father fill you with his love!
Gal 4:6-7 says - Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."
Jn 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”
Most people have some element of struggle with intimacy – and intimacy with God is not something we can just “do” . We can do many good things for God… but we cannot just make intimacy with God happen – we need to receive the revelation of his love from the Father and then it’s as if the lights go on.
Jesus said, "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. (John 15:9). Love is more than an adjective that describes God. The love of God is God Himself: "God is love" (1 John 4:8). The love of God here is His presence around us.
For now, the thought of it might make you afraid, but take courage: if you want to make God your refuge, the path you must take will lead you to deal with your fears until you drop your guardedness and learn to stay inside the presence of God’s love. You will have to come to the place where you really believe, "The Lord loves His people" (2 Chron. 2:11).
